California Trip Day 1

Andrew and I decided to take advantage of a day off from work on Memorial Day to take an extended weekend trip to California. It had been since 2007 that we had been to California together so we talked about going to LA and seeing the sights that we had never seen since usually when we go, we go to Disneyland. At least that's how the trip planning started, but in the end, it was much cheaper to stay by Disneyland then anywhere else in LA. Then I thought I couldn't stay right by Disneyland and not go there, so we decided to do both Disneyland and see the sights of LA!

We decided to fly to Long Beach as we had heard great things about how nice the airport was being so much smaller than LAX. That was the truth! It reminded us of landing in Hawaii. You walk off the plane outside. In fact, most of the airport is open to the outside including where you pick up your bags. It was a neat experience. We most definitely will fly to Long Beach over LAX again!

We flew to Long Beach on Jet Blue, which was the first time we've flown Jet Blue. It was a great experience. We also flew in the Jet Blue Boston Red Sox plane so that was fun too!

Our first stop was the Sprinkles location in Newport Beach!

Sprinkles Ice Cream too!

Besides getting cupcakes, I was able to purchase the new Sara Happ x Sprinkles Red Velvet Lip Scrub at the bakery. It tastes so yummy and it makes my lips feel so soft!

After Sprinkles, we decided to have lunch at Yard House, which is a Darden restaurant. Darden also owns Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse so we were excited to try it since they don't have them in Utah. Overall it was good. Andrew got his street taco vampire style, which is a street taco wrapped in a grilled, crispy cheese-crusted flour tortilla shell. His favorite!

After lunch, we drove to Corona Del Mar State Beach because we wanted to see the ocean.

When we flew in that morning, we saw these purple trees everywhere! They were so pretty so we couldn't resist getting a picture of them.

After leaving the beach, we headed over to check in at our hotel. We were staying right behind California Adventure so we had a view of the Disneyland fireworks every night!
