North Carolina Trip Day 1 & 2 - Traveling to Sanford, NC

Last fall, my sister, Heidi, asked Andrew and I if we would come visit them in North Carolina in January to see my niece, Mayci, get baptized. We found an amazing deal on airfare and we'd never been to North Carolina so we decided to go!

We worked the morning before we left on Wednesday, January 24 and then in the afternoon we headed to the SLC airport to catch our flight. We flew from SLC to Denver and from Denver to Charlotte, NC. It was an overnight flight so we were pretty tired once we landed early Thursday morning, but we got our rental car and headed to Sanford, NC, which is where my sister lives. On the way, we stopped for breakfast at Waffle House. Andrew loves to stop at Waffle House for breakfast whenever we're traveling in an area where they have them. :)

Waiting in SLC for our flight to Denver with Dad, Mom, Sam's mom, sister and niece. It was fun traveling in a big group!

Also on the way, we stopped in High Point, NC to see the world's largest chest of drawers! Being that Andrew works for a furniture store, we had to stop. ;) This is where Nielsen's came to furniture market every year before it started in Las Vegas so Andrew was excited to see what he had always heard about.

Once we got to my sister's house, we were exhausted, but she showed us around her cute house and then we all went to grab an early lunch before we checked into our hotel and had a nap! For lunch, we got to eat at another new to us place called Bojangle's. They are everywhere there!

Later, after our nap, we went back to Heidi's where she feed us tacos for dinner and we visited with everyone a little more. On the way back to our hotel, Andrew wanted to stop at the Piggly Wiggly, which is a grocery store. We checked out all the interesting things that are different from Utah grocery stores and then headed back to our hotel to get a good night's sleep!

Andrew loved that their slogan is "The Meat People" and that they sell whole BBQ pigs. Haha!

  1. I think the first thing he mentioned when he got back was the Piggly Wiggly and that they sell a whole pig. Boys and their meat.
