My family is spread all over, but my sister Heidi and her family were able to come to Utah from Kansas after Christmas. So on the Saturday after Christmas, she and those of us in Utah along with my Grandma Cole visiting from Washington got together at my parent's house in Deweyville for our annual Heward family Christmas party. Here are the kids opening their presents from Andrew and I:
Eagerly waiting to open their presents!
We gave Lincoln and my nephew Will in California duffel bags. Lincoln got Spider-Man and Will got Cars. We got to Skype with my nephew Will and watch him open his present from us too. He seemed to love it because he was twirling around with it in the background afterward. ;)
We gave Jade & Mayci and Kinley & Taylor Tupperware mini serving sets. They really enjoyed them! That night they had their little pitchers and cups filled with water in case they needed a drink in the middle of the night. ;) Too cute!
Just a cute picture of Taylor I couldn't resist posting. :)
After all the presents were opened, we all went to Maddox Ranch House for dinner. It was fun to be with almost the whole family for a nice meal like that. :)
Every year I love making homemade caramels to give to our family and friends. Another fun part of it for me is finding the perfect tin to put them in. This year I found probably my most favorite tin ever and with the buttery caramels inside, I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I enjoyed making them!
Like I've mentioned in a couple posts this year, I'm obsessed with the blue Ball jars that are out! So for co-worker gifts this year, I decided to take an idea I got from my SIL Kim and make the jars into drinking glasses complete with straws. :) Andrew drilled the holes in the lids and inserted the grommets, I added the cute blue paper straws and then I packaged the jars up in red and green trimmings for Christmas. I hope my co-workers love them as much as I do!
This year I ordered the larger Christmas crackers from Williams-Sonoma for Andrew and I to countdown the 12 days before Christmas. These crackers have a couple jokes and a trivia question inside along with a small trinket and a paper crown. We've been having fun checking out the small trinket inside each one especially because it reminds us of the small toys inside Kinder Eggs. In the first cracker we popped, we got a little puzzle to put together. ;)
This year Andrew and I were lucky enough to have the opportunity to go on 3 trips! Along with a new fur child in our house, I wanted to include pictures of it all so I did a 5x7 card. After reading last year's Christmas card blog post, I've decided that each new Christmas card I do is my new favorite. ;)
We have a new kitten this Christmas and I wasn't sure how she was going to do with having a tree in the house...well she loves to drink out of the tree stand, smells like a Christmas tree, always has sap in her fur and has climbed it a few times (oh, brother!), but for the most part, she is good to it. ;) So here are our Christmas trees 2013!
For the last 2 years, Andrew has been wanting to put our living room tree in the tallest part of the room instead of in front of the windows. We got probably our best tree ever this year. It's so full and I didn't want to cut even one branch off of it so I agreed. The only problem was I didn't have quite enough lights or garland for a taller tree so we had to make wider passes as we were going around, but I think it worked out nicely. :)
I'm still so in love with having 2 trees. Our skinny tree, full of all
the ornaments we love, is literally packed this year, but I wouldn't have
it any other way. :)
Last Saturday we got to attend the baptism of our niece Katelyn. It was really special to be there and see how excited she was. :) Andrew and I got her a white towel with her name and baptism date embroidered in her favorite color on it that she could use after she came out of the font. I think she really liked it and now she can always remember that special date in her life.
This year we got our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving since Andrew had to work on Friday and Saturday we had a baptism to attend. We've been kind of socked in around here with an inversion of sorts, but heading up the mountain, all of a sudden it was 11 degrees warmer, sunny and we were looking down at this blanket of clouds that's been blocking the sun for so long.
We brought our dog Amber with us again this year since she had so much fun last year helping us hunt for our Christmas tree. :)
After we cut our tree, Andrew tried sledding using Amber to pull him! I don't think she knew what was going on, but she ran as fast as she could. :D
Here it is! Our Christmas tree 2013!
Probably the best tree we've ever gotten! It's full and tall and smells absolutely wonderful. :)
TriCounty gave this to me the week of Thanksgiving. :)
This year Andrew and I had Thanksgiving at my dad and mom's house. My mom asked me to make her famous in our family ;) Cheese Ball along with a veggie tray and pie. For pies I opted to bring pumpkin pie and lemon meringue pie, which are mine and Andrew's favorite!
Normally we take pictures of everyone at the Thanksgiving table before we eat, but somehow we forgot this year! Oh well! The dinner was scrumptious anyway. ;) After dinner we went Christmas tree hunting and then we spent the evening playing games and with our nephew Lincoln and nieces Kinley and Taylor that were there. Spending time with my nephews and nieces always makes my day. :)
We have so much to be thankful for and I am grateful for the opportunity to take a day and remember all the blessings we have. :)
