USU's Loveboat Casino Night 2013

Last Friday night was USU's annual Loveboat casino night. Josh and Savannah joined us this year along with Andrew's sister Alicia and his mom. For the dinner this year they had Golden Corral cater so it was a really good meal. :)

Then Andrew and Josh headed off to the gaming tables.

After a while they came back over where we were sitting and so we went over and had our pictures taken in front of a backdrop set up to be just like a high school dance. ;)

Taken by USU.

Taken by Savannah.

Shortly after we sat back down, the DJ started playing Gangnam Style. Andrew loves this song and even knows the dance to it so he went over and danced on the floor with the others who knew it. He always keeps me laughing. :)

Then I found a video that USU had of Andrew dancing! They put it on youtube and facebook. I was laughing so hard I was crying that night and again when I watched it today. :)

After all the gaming comes the point when you can win prizes and then an auction to bid on prizes. Andrew and I ended up both winning a USU hoodie and as each person or couple around us didn't win the item in the auction they were bidding on, they gave us their money so when the item I wanted in the auction came around to be bid on, we had a TON of money and we won it! A 3-crock round slow cooker! I have been wanting one of these for a long time. :) Josh and Savannah gave us quite a bit of the money we had to win it in the auction so I've already promised them a dinner made in it. :)

All our winnings!

Such a fun night!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This year with my traditional pink pancakes with pink milk for Valentine's Day breakfast, I made bacon hearts. I think they turned out pretty good!

Then about mid morning, I got a flower delivery! Such a cute arrangement because it's like a topiary. I also really liked the pinwheel card holder. Turns out, Andrew had seen this displayed at the store with just the red roses, but thought it needed a few more roses to make it fuller so he had them add the white roses. He says he always has to put his own spin on the flowers he gets me anyway. I'm so lucky to have him!

He also got me the second season of 90210 on DVD (I love that show!) and I got him Taken 2 on DVD, an iTunes gift card, Reese's Hearts and a card.

On most Thursdays we have dinner with Brandon and Kim so since Valentine's Day was on Thursday this year, we did a little more special dinner and broke out the china and candles. :) I served lasagna and garlic bread and Kim made a fun pink drink and brought a homemade baked cheesecake with raspberry sauce for dessert. Everything was delicious!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Dinner - Ruth's Chris Steak House

Back in December we started talking about going to Ruth's Chris Steak House with our friends Todd and Randi for Valentine's Day dinner. Since Valentine's Day is on a Thursday this year, we decided to go the weekend before because the closest Ruth's Chris is in Park City and we figured we could just make a day of it. So on Saturday we headed out about 12:30. It was snowing in Park City when we got there, but we wandered though all the quaint little shops, got a hot chocolate at a cafe and a little goodie at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. It was a fun afternoon. We even met the Abominable Snowman! ;)

We liked how you could catch the ski lift right in the middle of town.

When it was time, we headed to Ruth's Chris for our reservation. I had been wanting to eat here for a few years now so I was excited and Todd had told Andrew that they have "bang your head against the wall good steaks" ;) so Andrew was just as excited!

It was so fun eating at such a fancy restaurant so I have to make sure I journal everything about it! We had dressed up a little bit for our special night out then when we arrived for our reservation, they asked us if we wanted to check our coats. We did and that was a fun first for us! After we were seated, they asked us if we wanted tap water or bottled water. Since we had decided to go all out, we asked for the bottled water. The water came in a chilled glass bottle from Italy and they left it at our table so whenever they came to check on us, they could refill our water glasses. :) For our appetizer we decided to be adventurous and ordered veal osso buco ravioli. Our friends Todd and Randi ordered spicy lobster, which they offered us a taste of and surprisingly it tasted like orange chicken. :) The rest of our meals were everything we expected and more. Absolutely fantastic right down to the dessert. Andrew had a Caesar salad, ribeye steak (that he savored with his eyes closed!) with mashed potatoes and chocolate peanut butter mousse cake with fresh berries & cream for dessert. I had a stuffed chicken breast with potatoes au gratin and fries and a chocolate explosion cake for dessert.

Andrew was teasing me at the end of the meal and wanted me to take a picture of him getting the last drops of water from one of our bottles. I told him it probably wasn't a very sophisticated thing to do, but now I have a picture of our bottled water, I guess. ;)

We were there for almost 3 hours, but the time flew by and everything was just wonderful. Really good food and really good company. :) Thanks, Todd and Randi. We had the best time!

"I heart ewe." ;)

Last night our swap group met for the month. Our theme for February was Valentine's Day. The tuck I made is above and the one I received is below. I got Felicity's tuck this month, which I love because she inked the fabric and how cute are all those buttons? :) Thanks, Felicity! I love it!

Also, Lewaina made everyone a valentine. I just love the things she makes us! Thanks, Lewaina!

Super Bowl 2013

This year the 49ers were in the Super Bowl and they are Andrew's favorite NFL team of all time! He has loved them since he was a young boy and he's definitely a true 49ers fan because he's never stopped loving them even through their bad years. ;)

So needless to say, Andrew was so excited that the 49ers were in the Super Bowl this year so I went all out! I bought a balloon bouquet for the table centerpiece. I made my traditional Spinach & Artichoke Dip. Andrew had a new 49ers shirt and a towel and I had 49ers earrings and a pom pom. Even Brandon & Kim's dog Lizzee had a 49ers bandana. :)

Unfortunately the game did not go well for the 49ers and Andrew just couldn't take it anymore so we left his parents house and went home at halftime. :( He's just so dang passionate about his teams! I felt terrible, but it'll be good for him to have a break from football now and he'll be back just as passionate as ever next season. :)
