October Mini Quilt

For October's mini quilt, my mom and grandma changed the pattern idea, which I'm glad they did! The original pattern was a dog holding a shoe in its mouth. How is that related to Halloween? But, since we're each working on our quilt blocks in different places, we each had to come up with our own jack-o-lantern pattern. I was a little nervous, but mine turned out just fine, I think. ;) I even added a black cat since I actually have one of those in real life. My little Emillio Jo! :)

Mini Pumpkins 2013

If you've been reading my garden blog posts this year, then you know that my garden is really producing! This year, like most years, I planted 2 mini pumpkin plants. Now the most mini pumpkins I've ever gotten out of the garden in one season is 28, but this year I got...63! Can you believe that...63! There are also still at least a dozen out there that just didn't have time to ripen before the frost came. :(  But, I'm loving them! I have them displayed a few places throughout my house and I have enough left over to share. So if you'd like one or some, just let me know!

Fall Bouquet

Andrew has been working late and on Saturdays a lot lately, but last night he got off early and surprised me with a beautiful fall bouquet. Fall is my favorite season and of course, I love being surprised with flowers. :) He spoils me, I know and I am reminded all the time that I am one lucky girl! Love you, Andrew!

Raspberry Freezer Jam

This past weekend, I made raspberry freezer jam. I've done this once before with our raspberries and it's something that Andrew loves! We have a couple raspberry plants, but only one main producing one, but it gives us just enough raspberries every year to do 2 half-pint jars of freezer jam. :) Perfect for us!

As you can probably tell, we've really been enjoying our little garden this year. ;)

Tomato Sauce

Most years we plant a tomato plant or 2 in our garden and this year was no exception except that this year one of those 2 plants was a HUGE overachiever! We have Roma tomatoes coming out of our ears! Andrew asked me if I wanted to can them and after being kind of wishy-washy about it, I decided I would do tomato sauce because I knew I would use it. ;) So we invested in all the supplies and now we'll always have them so we can do this every year!

It's amazing that you can have SO MANY tomatoes and only end up with 4 pints of tomato sauce, but that's okay. It was a good learning experience. :)

September Swap Night

Last night our swap group met for the month and we traded vintage dish towels again. I found my vintage dish towel off of Etsy in the Birdie's Nest shop.

The dish towel I received was from Katie. It was a vintage tablecloth that Katie cut down into a dish towel size. It has some neat yellowing and was even wrapped with a piece of vintage rick rack. :)

Until next month!
