Will's Easter Present

Since my nephew Will is only 7 months old, he couldn't have all the things I gave my other nieces and nephew for Easter so instead I gave him these Gerber Graduates Puffs (Thanks for the idea, Savannah!) when he came to visit me last week. Leisa said Will had tried them a few times before, but she had never bought them for him so we tried feeding a few to him that day and he seemed to enjoy them, but two days later I got a text from Leisa that said, "Now that Will has got the hang of eating his puffs, I can barely feed them to him fast enough! He loves them!" Made my day!

Here's Will wondering why his mom and I are trying to take his picture instead of feeding him his puffs. ;)

Love this little guy!

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend for us started Friday night. We were invited to have Good Friday dinner with our friends Todd & Randi and Josh & Savannah. Todd was cooking a leg of lamb and Andrew was so excited for it! Todd also cooked a chicken for those of us who preferred that. ;)

Dessert was puff pastry with chocolate, chocolate-peanut butter and chocolate-caramel fillings. So good and something I would never have thought of to make!

After dinner we all got out our Easter egg dying kits and dyed eggs. This is a fun tradition we started with our friends last year and I'm glad it continued this year. :)

Saturday morning I got up and filled a few Easter eggs for my nieces and nephew. For each of them I had a gold egg with a gold dollar inside, a large prize egg with an Easter bracelet inside and a small prize egg with a number inside that corresponded with a numbered prize that I had with me.

Then I got to work on Easter cupcakes. I found some cute Easter cupcake papers at the store, but couldn't decide which ones I liked the most so I bought them both. The same thing happened with the sprinkles so I bought them both too. ;)

At about noon, we headed up to my parent's house where everyone was gathered for an Easter egg hunt! Each individual family brought 2 bags of candy to fill the plastic eggs my mom had and then we hid them out in the yard for the kids to find. I think we had over 200 eggs for 4 kids to find! I guess it was a little overboard, but it was fun nonetheless. :)

After the egg hunt was over, I also had bubbles for the kids so I sat outside and blew bubbles for them to chase. I love these kids so much and love spoiling them so I was sad that my other nephew Will couldn't come. He gets to come visit me this week though so I'm looking forward to that!

Sunday morning we had an Easter brunch with Josh and Savannah. A brunch party is something I've been wanting to do for a while now and it worked out perfectly to do it for Easter! I also got to try some new recipes. We had a Baked Bacon & Swiss Omelet, a fruit platter with fresh pineapple, cantaloupe and strawberries served with Homemade Granola and then Raspberry Butter to go on the hot cross buns that Savannah brought. Everything turned out just scrumptious!

After brunch, Josh and Savannah stayed to play Wii for a little while. When they left to get ready for Easter dinner with Savannah's family, Andrew and I did our Easter baskets to each other.

I gave Andrew an iTunes gift card and he pre-ordered Richard Paul Evans' new book in The Walk series for me. The book is called The Road to Grace and it comes out on May 8! I can hardly wait!

It was a busy, but fun Easter weekend and it was really nice that we got to spend it with both friends and family. :)

April Book Club

Last Thursday night we got together again for book club. I chose this month's book, "Love Comes Softly" by Janette Oke.

Nineteen-year-old Marty Claridge starts west with her adventurous, boyish husband, Clem, seeking to claim land and hoping for good fortune. But when the venture turns suddenly to tradegy, Marty is left alone with her great loss. And coupled with her grief and heartache is the grim reality that there is no way to return home.

Clark Davis and his little girl, Missie, are also in great need. Clark's wife has died, leaving him to care for Missie and the farm at the same time. His offer to Marty comes with good intention, but will courage and faith be enough to bring them to true love?

Since I chose the book, that made it my turn to host the book club at my house. I fed everyone a dinner of Chicken and Black Bean Tacos, green salad and raspberry lemonade while we discussed the book.

Then, since this book has been made into a made-for-TV movie, we decided to watch it as part of book club while enjoying Goblin's Popcorn. Until next month!

Popcorn plate. ;)

April Swap Group

Naomi took charge this month and decided to have us decorate baskets for Easter and then she asked us to bring 10 (since there are 10 of us in the group) of something to trade so that each basket would have one of every item that every person brought. I was really excited for her idea so I went straight home after March swap and bought 10 adorable Easter ornies on ebay.

When we got together Tuesday night, everyone got to work decorating their Easter baskets and trading what they had brought. I got a basket from the DI and filled it with the nice paper Easter grass.

Then I added this cute carrot Chinese take out container that I filled with jelly beans and a Skittles egg and finished the basket off with a coffee-stained Easter bow!

Here is my basket finished with one of everything after we were done trading.

All the finished baskets.

Then each basket was assigned a number and we drew numbers out of a bowl to see which basket we were going home with. I got Naomi's basket and here's what was inside.

This marked the end of yet another year of swap group. We have decided to continue on though! Starting next month we are going back to swapping tucks since everyone enjoyed that so much before. Stay tuned. :)
