Jazz Game in the KeyBank Suite

Over Christmas my brother invited Andrew and I to see the Jazz play the Clippers at Energy Solutions Arena in the KeyBank Suite! At first, Andrew and I weren't sure if we could arrange our work schedules, but in the end it worked out and with the weather cooperating, we made it out there last Friday night. Being in the suite was so, so nice! They served us a great dinner of barbeque beef sandwiches, potato chips and green salad with tortilla chips and guacamole. To drink we had a mini fridge stocked with all kinds of juice and soda. Then we had regular and white chocolate popcorn to munch on and at halftime, there was apple cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. So yummy! Also, we even had our own personal bathroom. ;)

Here's a random fact about me...I know the Kardashian's get a bad rap, but I secretly like their show. ;) Anyway, Khloe's husband Lamar Odom plays for the Clippers so I was kind of excited to watch him play. He's in the white jersey #7.

Thanks again, Doug, for inviting us! We had a great time!

Merry Christmas!

This year Andrew and I tried to keep the gifts to each other to a minimum because our present to each other is a trip to Hawaii in January! Even so we were still very spoiled by our families. :) I had a very merry pineapple Christmas at home this year (as I've been calling it!) and I was so into taking pictures of all my pineapple presents that I forgot to take our regular "loot" pictures! Oh well, I guess, but I did get a picture of the chairs that Andrew's parents gave us for Christmas. I think they fit us perfectly!

Christmas Goodies 2012

For our Christmas goodies this year, I once again made homemade caramels. I think everyone that we give them to looks forward to getting them each year and I like to hear that! Since I'm so into monograms lately, I also got each family a stocking charm of the first letter of their last name. A fun idea, I thought and everyone seemed to enjoy them as well. A couple people even put them on their trees right away. :)

Co-Worker Gifts

For Christmas I always like to give my co-workers a little gift. This year I decided a hand soap from Bath & Body Works would be a fun gift! When I was standing in line at the store to buy the soap, I noticed a sign that advertised free gift wrapping materials with purchase so I asked for the amount that I needed and they supplied the bags, ribbon and tags. All I had to do was put them all together. How cute are these now?! I would definitely love to get a gift like this, which is why I loved giving them to my co-workers. :)

12 Days of Christmas Crackers

This year I ordered Christmas crackers from Williams-Sonoma for Andrew and I to countdown the 12 days before Christmas. As far as I understand it's an English tradition and each cracker contains something inside. We got the smaller crackers and they each have a charade game, a joke and a quiz. It's been kind of fun to pop one each night and smile at the ridiculous jokes together. ;) Next year I think I'll order the larger crackers that have a small trinket and a paper crown in each one as the tradition goes.

Christmas Card 2012

Normally I like to send out our Christmas card with a picture of Andrew and I inside from a trip we took that year, but in 2012 we took 2 vacations. The first was a cruise in Alaska and the second was a quick 3-day trip to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Since I wanted to include pictures from both of those trips, we decided to do a collage card and include pictures of our fur children as well. ;) I actually think it's my most favorite card that Andrew and I have ever sent out!

Merry Christmas from our house to yours!

Christmas Tree 2012

Last year our tree was so full of ornaments that mean something to Andrew and I that I couldn't hang any of my pretty ball ornaments so this year I decided it was time to have 2 trees...The pretty real tree in the front window and I bought an artificial skinny tree for our family room so we could still display all our favorite ornaments too. So here are our Christmas trees for 2012! I actually really like having a 2nd tree because I can have a pretty tree, we can still enjoy all our favorite ornaments and it's fun having a tree in our family room too. :)

November Book Club

Last night we got together again for book club. Savannah chose this month's book, "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks.

An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love--and face the hardest decision of his life.

Savannah fed us dinner while we discussed the book and then, since this book has been made into a movie, we decided to watch it as part of book club. The movie was fabulous! Afterward I thanked Savannah for a good cry. ;) I've now added the DVD to my Christmas list. Until next month!

Cutting Christmas Trees 2012

Andrew didn't have to work the day after Thanksgiving this year so we took advantage of the opportunity to spend that morning up in the mountains with my family getting our Christmas trees. It's something I really look forward to every year, but this year we decided to take our dog Amber with us as well. She had so much fun with Andrew searching for the perfect tree. :)

 Off to find the tree!

Doing the trick Andrew taught her...dancing. ;)

Doug helping us carry our tree the rest of the way to the truck.

Amber is still ready for more!

Lincoln and Kinley loved Amber! Kinley wanted to be in one of the pictures with Amber and then she told us how cute she was and gave her a kiss on the head. It was the cutest thing. :)

Amber slept the whole way home and didn't make a peep. Probably the first time we've ever worn out all her energy ;), but she loved every second of being out there with us!

November Tuck Swap

Tuesday night our swap group met for the months of November and December since December seems to be such a busy month. Since we were meeting for 2 months, we swapped 2 tucks! Our theme for November was Thanksgiving. The tuck I made is above and the one I received is below. I got Laura's tuck this month and it's such an adorable little pumpkin complete with curly stem on top! I also love the little polka dot fabric she used. ;)

For December our theme was Christmas. The tuck I made is below and the one I received is right below that. I got Kim's tuck for December and it's so perfect with its jingle saying and snowman holding a jingle bell. :) I also loved the cute fabric Kim used for the back of her tuck. It reminds me of Christmas trees!

This month I also won the monthly giveaway! We decided as a group a couple months ago that the giveaway should just be one thing so nobody felt like they had to make themselves crazy thinking of this elaborate giveaway. I've loved it too because then the giveaway seems to be just the perfect primitive piece and this one is no exception. I love it! Also, I am so into burlap right now so I'm even more in love. :) Thanks, Katie!
