Carribean Cruise Vacation Day 6 - Belize

Now on to Belize! In Belize we had to tender again to the island, but unlike in Grand Cayman, our ship had to dock quite far away and so the tender ride in was about 20 minutes.

This is our tender nearing Belize.

In Belize we did a tour with my Dad, Mom, brother Doug and SIL Misty to the Mayan ruins of Altun Ha. First we started with a tour of the city.

Then we arrived at the Mayan ruins of Altun Ha.

It's pretty impressive that the Mayan people built these buildings using only man power. They were built even before the wheel was invented!

We were able to climb the steps to the top of this building so Andrew did, but I opted not too as I was dripping already from all the humidity just standing still!

Views from the top...

There's me far below! :)

It is extremely green and beautiful there.

There was a tree just covered with these unique flowers.

Our next stop was at a resort called the Black Orchid Resort where we were able to eat a traditional Belize lunch of chicken, red beans and rice and fried plantain. Then we boarded a boat for a ride down the Belize River looking for animals.

Howler monkeys in the trees.

Hanging in this palm tree are nests built by a certain type of bird.

Huge iguanas!

We did spot an alligator and some bats also, but we weren't able to get a picture in time.

Coconuts in the tree.

Once we left the river and got out into the Caribbean Sea, we had to wear our life jackets on the boat.

The boat then dropped us off back where our tender originally dropped us off so we could do some shopping before going back to the ship.

In my opinion Belize was the most humid of the places we visited, but it was also the place we were most excited to visit on this trip and we enjoyed our time here.

Dinner in the Washington Dining Room with the family that night.

Our towel animal tonight was a frog.
