I found this piece at a DI a few weeks ago for $7.00 and I just couldn't resist taking it home and redoing it. I gave it a new paint job in chocolate brown and some new hardware in oil-rubbed bronze (which I love!). Funny thing is the hardware (3 knobs) cost me more than the piece! Oh well because I really liked how it turned out. :)

Our Infertility Journey

I found this website through a friends blog. I have to say it embodies our journey through infertility. It's been a long, rough road and we still have more to travel. Right now, at this point along the road, I feel peace in that we may never become parents and that's okay. Sometimes it still hurts and I'm prepared for that, but we're in love, we live for each other and we're happy.

September Ornies

Last night was once again ornie swap night! Our theme for September was Fall. These are the new cute ornies we all ended up with!

I am having so much fun in this group and I think these are my favorite ornies so far, but I may be prejudiced...I love the Fall! ;)

Sunday Drive

Andrew and I went with some friends of ours on a drive in the mountains this past Sunday. It's getting cooler and I officially found proof that fall is coming! Fall is my favorite time of year and I can't wait!

Left-Handers' Day - August 13, 2009

Celebrate your right to be left-handed!

As you may have guessed today is Left-Handers' Day. I found this fun website with some interesting information about how it is to be left-handed and since I am left-handed I thought I would share.

I am one of very few in my family who is left-handed and growing up in a right-handed world can sometimes be awkward. Here are some funny examples:

For those of you who know me really well, I love white-out, but I have to use my white-out tape upside down and from right to left in order to get it to work for me!

I always have an ink smudge down the side of my left hand from it dragging across the paper after I've written something!

In high school all the desks look like this, but they don't work for left-handed people very well.

When my mom would try to teach me any type of sewing project, she would always have to figure out how to do it left-handed so she could show me how I would do it. I love her for that!

I hope you wish all the left-handers' in your world a Happy Left-Handers' Day!

Cervical Cancer Prevention Contest Awards Dinner

A while back I mentioned that I won an overnight stay at a Park City resort for doing blog posts about the HPV virus and vaccine. Last week I was able to attend an awards ceremony in SLC and receive my award from Senator Karen Morgan, who has been very instrumental in getting funding for the HPV vaccine from the legislature. Senator Morgan told us a little bit about the process she went through to get the funding from the legislature, which was very interesting and we also had a dinner catered in from Jason's Deli. YUM!

My award is a 2 night stay in a one bedroom suite at the Silver King Hotel at the base of Park City Mountain Resort! I'm so excited to go and I'll post about that when I do!

Cirque du Soleil Saltimbanco

I have always wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show and it just so happened that their show Saltimbanco was going to be in SLC over my birthday so Andrew bought us tickets. The show was incredible! If you want a small preview of how amazing the show was check out this link. Unfortunately no cameras were allowed at the venue. We took a couple pictures with our cell phones inside before and after the show, but they are not the best quality.

My Birthday

August 7 is my birthday and I turned 29 (for the first time)! Andrew brought me these flowers at work today. He is so thoughtful. He said to me, "I've never bought you pink and green roses before." Isn't he sweet? He loves designing bouquets for me and apparently the lady at the flower shop was impressed with what he picked out. I think he did an awesome job as well! Thank you everyone for remembering my birthday and sending me birthday wishes. It really meant a lot!

FSA National Conference

This past weekend we were once again able to attend the annual FSA National Conference in Layton, UT. We went to some great classes and met some new friends. My cousin Savannah and her husband Josh, who are hoping to adopt as well, were also there. We love hanging out with them!

I have also been doing some thrift store shopping lately and these are my new finds!

I found this Dolce & Gabbana bag at the DI for $40!

My brother found this bowl at the DI for $2 and gave it to me for my birthday.
It matches the Corelle set I've been looking for so I love it! Thanks Doug & Misty!
