Utah Cancer Control Program's Cervical Cancer Prevention Contest Part II

In the United States, cervical cancer affects more than 10,000 women every year, with deaths approaching 4,000 annually. In Utah, approximately 60 women are diagnosed with and 17 die from the cancer every year. Because the majority of cervical cancer is caused by HPV, the contest is encouraging proper prevention for females ages 18-30.

Cervical cancer is caused by the HPV virus. Females between the ages of 9 and 26 can get a vaccine that prevents 70% of cervical cancers. See for more information.
